Wimborne Family Hub (previously known as Leigh Park) is a welcoming and supportive centre located in the heart of Wimborne. We offer a welcoming space for local groups, activities, and support services for families in the community. We work with many partner organisations and teams who are here to help you find the support you and your family need to thrive. Information about sessions

Under 1's

A baby’s first year will be full of adventures and wonder and of course, will not be without it's challenges. Come and join our friendly weekly group, meet other parents and carers and their babies. Here you can learn practical ideas that will support you and your baby to feel confident. You will be warmly welcomed.

Under 2's

This group is aimed at children aged 1 and 2. Under 2's is a rolling programme. It is for parents to make new friends, ask questions and gain advice. In a small group, parents and carers learn practical strategies to support their child in learning language naturally throughout their day.

Tiny Talkers

Tiny Talkers sessions run during term time only. These sessions are aimed at children aged 1 and 2 who have a speech delay. This group encourages children to develop social skills at their own pace, build their emotional confidence and self-esteem. 

Young Talkers

Young Talkers sessions run during term time only. This session is aimed at children aged from 2 to 4 with a speech delay. This group encourages children to develop social skills at their own pace, build their emotional confidence and self-esteem.

Parenting Toolbox

The opportunity to meet 1:1 with a member of the family hub to discuss any concerns you may have about your child. These sessions are for parents/carers to gain practical and friendly support around any aspect of looking after children aged 0-19 or family life. Dates and times of sessions available are listed. Please feel free to drop in. However we advise that you book a time slot, which can be held face to face, locally, virtually or over the phone.

Play Attention Communication (PAC) Focus Group

PAC Group for children aged 1-4 years old. There will be a range of play opportunities each week to develop speech and language and attention. Discussions around support and advice will be offered during the sessions. Parents/Carers can meet new families, share experiences and advice.

Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Safeguarding your children

At Dorset Children's services, keeping children safe and thriving is at the heart of all that we do. Wimborne Family Hub works in accordance with the Dorset Council Safeguarding Policy.

We also have a Designated Safeguarding Lead; their role is to lead safeguarding and child protection within the Family Hub, ensuring that children, young people, and families are protected from harm and that safeguarding practices meet the standards set by the Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Finally, we take care in our recruitment of staff and volunteers, using DBS checks, interviews and references to ensure they are suitable to work with children and families.
