All staff support the children's learning and development and provide quality care. The nursery is committed to the professional development of all staff members. The nursery use a named key person system so that each child gets the support they need.

Safety
The safety of all children is key to Shaftesbury Children's Centre nursery. The nursery provides safe premises for children to explore and grow.
Safeguarding
The nursery follows the Safeguarding Children Policy. This is used when there is a concern for a child's well-being or safety. It ensures that children and families get the support they deserve to keep them safe.
The nursery has a Designated Safeguarding Officer (the nursery manager) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Staff checks
Before hiring a member of staff, the nursery will:
- do an enhanced DBS (suitability) check
- explore their work history
- check references and supervision
