If you want to appeal your RV, you must first register with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). You can find out more about how to challenge your business rates valuation on the GOV.UK website.
Appeals against your new 2026 list RV can be made from 1 April 2026
Appeals can take some time to process, the VOA currently has a delay in reviewing appeals. Whilst an appeal is in progress, your business rate bill must still be paid. If, in time, your appeal is successful and your RV is reduced, then any overpayment which results in a credit notice can be refunded and may be refunded with interest.
Interest may not be paid, should you default on payment of your bill and court action is taken.
