Bournemouth, Poole and Somerley recycling centres

Somerley Household Waste Recycling Centre (Verwood Road)

Dorset Council residents do not need to register or take any action. Separate arrangements have been made for Dorset Council residents – more information to follow in Spring 2020.

Local Dorset residents can continue to access the Somerley site free of charge without needing to register their vehicle. We are also working with Hampshire County Council to ensure Dorset residents are not charged for dropping off waste in the future.

Vehicles may need to be registered later in 2020 and we are working with Hampshire County Council to ensure their systems are ready if this becomes necessary.

You can find out more information at Hampshire County Council's website.

Millhams Community Recycling Centre in Bournemouth

East Dorset residents can also access Bournemouth Borough Council's Community Recycling Centre.

In order to visit the site you will need to provide a recent East Dorset council tax bill.

Residents living in a house of multiple occupancy or bed-sit type accommodation will need to obtain a copy of the East Dorset council tax bill from their landlord or the property owner to gain access to the Millhams facility.

You can find out more information at Bournemouth Borough Council's website.

Nuffield Household Waste Recycling Centre in Poole

Dorset residents outside of Poole can use the Borough of Poole's Nuffield Household Waste Recycling centre, provided you live in:

  • Corfe Mullen
  • Lytchett Matravers
  • Lytchett Minster
  • or parts of Broadstone and Upton (and you pay your council tax to either East Dorset District Council or Purbeck District Council)

To find out if you can use the Nuffield Household Waste Recycling Centre, you can check the list of eligible streets and postcodes:

You may be asked to provide appropriate proof of residency such as:

  • recent council tax bill (this is the preferred document)
  • recent utility bill
  • current driving licence

You can find out more information at Borough of Poole's website.

Vehicle permits

Please note that you will not be able to bring vans onto either the Nuffield Household Waste Recycling centre or the Millhams Community Recycling Centre, even if you have a permit to use a van at Dorset Waste Partnership recycling centres.
