Dorset Council is running two prize draws

Prize draw one for the main survey:

  • is open to over 16s 
  • there will be two winners 
  • the first winner will receive a Kindle Paperwhite, the second winner will receive an Amazon Dot 
  • by submitting an entry you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms and Conditions 

Prize draw two for the children’s survey: 

  • is open only to under 16s  
  • entrants must have their parent or guardian’s permission
  • there will be three winners 
  • the prize for each winner will be a £25 Amazon Voucher 
  • by submitting an entry, the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of entrants agree to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of the entrant 

The closing date for both prize draws is 7 January 2022 

How to enter 

  • to enter prize draw one, you (an over 16-year-old) must complete and submit or return the #letstalklibraries survey which is available to complete online, over the telephone and paper copy
  • to enter prize draw two, the child (an under 16-year-old) should complete the #letstalklibraries children’s survey which is available to complete online, over the telephone and paper copy 
  • completed surveys must be returned by 7 January 2022, either by submitting through the website, completing it over the phone (on 01305221000 ) or by returning your hard copy to your local library
  • the opening date for entries is 25 October 2021
  • Dorset Council will not accept responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind 
  • Dorset Council reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions
  • the prize draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts

Eligibility 

  • unless otherwise stated, our prize draws and competitions are open to all individuals who live, work or have a connection with Dorset, except employees of Dorset Council
  • in entering, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. Dorset Council may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the prize draw or competition

The draw 

  • a winner for each prize draw will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process within two weeks of the #letstalklibraries survey closing
  • the winner will be notified by telephone (using details provided at entry) within 7 days of being chosen and must provide a postal address to claim their prize. If a winner for Prize Draw one is under the age of 18, parental agreement will be required to receive the prize
  • if a winner does not respond to Dorset Council within 14 days of being notified, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and Dorset Council will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above
  • the prize will be sent to the winner within 14 days of responding to Dorset Council
  • the prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. Dorset Council reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond Dorset Council’s control makes it necessary to do so
  • the decision of Dorset Council regarding any aspect of the prize draw or competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it
  • Dorset Council reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so

Limitation of liability  

Insofar as is permitted by law, Dorset Council , its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of Dorset Council, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected. 

Data protection and publicity  

  • by agreeing to be entered into the prize draw, you are consenting to Dorset Council using your telephone number (provided at entry) to contact if you if you are the winner of the random prize draw. This information will be deleted by the team carrying out the consultation after the competition winners have been announced and they have received their prize
  • personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in the Dorset Council's policy on Data protection - Dorset Council. The data privacy notice for the library service is available at Dorset Library Service privacy notice - Dorset Council
