Our team
The team is friendly and supportive and currently has:
- 1 Senior Lawyer/Business Partner (shared with the Adult team)
- 2 Senior Lawyers
- 2 Lawyers
- 1 Paralegal
- 1 Support Officer
The team have developed incredibly positive working relationships with the client departments who regularly provide positive feedback on the work undertaken by the team. No one day is the same and members of the team are supported by ongoing internal and external training to develop their legal skills.
What we do for Dorset
The Litigation team provides advice, and representation in court on a wide variety of litigation matters across several departments within the Council. The advice provided can be on criminal and regulatory legislation, which may result in a prosecution. The areas of prosecution involve:
- education
- trading standards
- planning
- food safety
- health and safety
- animal welfare
- housing standards
- licensing of various kinds
- environmental health
- anti-social behaviour
Other areas covered by the team include employment advice, possession proceedings and debt recovery.
