We have prepared two assessments to inform future planning for development of renewable energy in the Dorset Council area. These are:

  • Resource assessment for renewable energy - which assesses the technical potential in Dorset for development of wind turbines of various sizes, ground mounted solar panels, and battery energy storage systems. This takes into account various physical constraints to development, as well as other constraints including heritage assets and ecological sites.
  • Landscape sensitivity assessment for renewable energy - which assesses Dorset's landscape sensitivity to development of wind turbines, ground mounted solar panels, and battery energy storage systems in various scales. The landscape sensitivity assessment will be published once it is finalised.
