Victoria Gardens, Portland

Victoria Gardens in Portland were opened in 1904 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, which was in 1897.

The grassed and formal bedding areas are a focal point as you enter the island. A large rockery running across the centre of the gardens is planted with a mixture of shrubs, perennials and bedding plants.

Play Area

A small fenced play area with equipment suitable for children, aged from two up to eight years old, is positioned at the upper tier of the gardens.

Tennis Courts

Two tennis courts open all year round are available to the public free of charge.

Bowling Green

Portland Victoria Bowls Club operate the daily management of the bowling green, however, two rinks are available for use by the public at any time for an hourly rate of £2.80 per person.

Accessibility

The gardens are wheelchair accessible from all entrances.

Toilets

There are no public toilets in Victoria Gardens. The nearest public facilities are either at Fortuneswell or on the seafront at Castletown.
