Dorset Forum for Equality and Diversity (Dorset FED)
Do you want to have your say and contribute to the way public services are delivered by your local council, healthcare and emergency services?
Dorset FED promotes equality and diversity in Dorset. It brings together groups that support people who may be disadvantaged because of disability, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion or belief, or because of rural isolation and poverty. Public service providers with a duty to promote equality and diversity - e.g. local councils Dorset Police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and the NHS - also contribute to the forum as associate members.
Dorset Race Equality Council
Dorset REC is explicit about tackling racial discrimination and our support for race equality. They take a lead in the community in Dorset in the following areas:
- dealing with racial discrimination
- supporting victims of racial discrimination
- promoting good relations between persons of different racial groups
- gathering and monitoring racial incidence data in partnership with other agencies
- offer training to various organisation
- perform research projects for outside agencies concerning race/ethnic issues

Their Mission Statement is "To work to build a South West where lesbian gay bisexual and trans people can live and work among our neighbours without prejudice and without fear."
Weymouth & Portland Access Group

Weymouth & Portland Access Group is a voluntary organisation mostly comprised of people with disabilities. Their aim is to help local people, whether with physical disabilities or sensory impairments, to access services in the area; e.g. shops, restaurants, public buildings, churches, pubs and supermarkets. Also to make sure people using wheelchairs or mobility scooters can get through barriers, down kerbs, etc.
Dorset Blind Association
Dorset blind association is an independent charity supporting people with sight loss throughout the county. They were established in 1918 and celebrated their 90th Anniversary during 2008. Their general Service Provision Policy is to provide practical help and assistance for anyone suffering from sight loss, which enables those people to maintain healthy, independent and socially inclusive living for as long as possible, notwithstanding the impact of their sight loss.
Chrysalis
Chrysalis provides support for trans people, their families and close friends through the provision of safe, confidential, non-judgemental meetings where people can meet with others of similar life experience, receive one-to-one counselling from trained counsellors, participate in workshops and life skills sessions and work with peers in a facilitated group. Chrysalis also offer advice, advocacy, training, consultancy and networking to other organisations.
