Coronavirus (COVID-19): updates and advice, including help if you are struggling financially

Crowdfunder Dorset

Crowdfunder Dorset aims to raise £1m for local projects that give young people places to go and things to do and help them to do good for their community.

Dorset Council have set aside £200,000 for Crowdfunder Dorset as a new way of helping local communities to make things happen. We need your help to turn this into £1m and make a real difference for young people across Dorset.

What can I fund

Crowdfunder Dorset is available for community-led projects that:

  • provide young people with places to go and things to do in their local area

  • or help them become valued members of their community through social action for example volunteering, campaigning or having a voice in local decisions

We will decide whether to give money from the fund to crowdfunded projects based on how much they meet these aims and have public support, including from young people and the local county councillor.

We will also decide how much money will be given to each project based on whether it will be:

  • in an area of deprivation

  • or in an area where there are fewer places to go, things to do, or opportunities for social action

Projects launched through Crowdfunder Dorset can access up to 50% of your funding target for projects up to maximum £5,000.

Projects must raise 25% of their target before they can be part of #CrowdfundDorset.

What can't I fund?

The fund is available for new and innovative projects for young people.

The funding is not:

  • recurring (i.e. it is a one-off sum)

  • for the cost of buildings or capital costs

  • to fund travel or exchange trips

  • matched against sums raised by public sector bodies or grant-giving charities

How can I apply?

Apply by visiting the  Crowdfund Dorset website.
