Early Steps 1
Early Steps 1 pupils and their parent will be escorted to their allocated changing rooms and will be met by their teacher pool side.
A parent to the Early Steps 1 children will need to be present in the water throughout the lesson on a 1 to 1 basis with their child. Unfortunately we are unable to offer access in the changing rooms for siblings or additional children who are not swimming in lessons.
Changing facilities will only be available for one parent of the child attending our Early Steps 1 classes, we ask that children are showered at home as parents will have a maximum of 5 minutes to dress themselves and their children before exiting through the back of the centre as directed by our staff. Only one parent is to attend the lesson with their child.
Early Steps 2
No changing facilities will be available for children in Early Steps 2 and upwards, children will need to arrive swim ready.
All swimmers in Early Steps 2 will be collected from their parent or guardian outside of the sports centre and will be taken through to the pool side by a member of our staff. Hooks are available on the pool side to hang towels and robes.
At the end of lessons, parents of children under 8 will need to collect their child from pool side. To assist their child with drying before being directed to the exit which will be via the Astro changing room exit. Any pupils above the age of 8 years will collect their towels and robes and be directed to the exit, to be met by waiting parents.
Early Steps 3 and upwards
No changing facilities will be available for children in Early Steps 3 and upwards swim ready.
All swimmers in Early Steps 3 upwards will be collected from their parent or guardian outside of the sports centre and will be taken through to the pool side by a member of our staff. Hooks are available on the pool side to hang towels and robes.
At the end of the lessons, the Early Steps 3 pupils above the age of 8 years will collect their towels and robes and be directed to the exit, to be met by waiting parents. Only children under the age of 8 can be collected from pool side.
The centre will be providing equipment such as swimming aids and floats during the lessons that will be cleaned by the centre staff after every lesson.
Booking and Payment
Places available within the classes will be slightly less than before to ensure social distancing rules are adhered to. We will, therefore, allocate places on a first come, first served basis. Please check the timetable below for available classes. Children will not be automatically placed back into previous lesson slots.
Direct Debit payments were frozen on the at the start of the second lockdown and will start again in December for the final lessons of the term. All swim school parents will have received an email explaining the payment schedule to the end of term.
Please contact the centre as soon as possible to extend your freeze period if you feel you need to shield for longer or are experiencing financial difficulties.
If you wish to cancel your child’s membership, please cancel your direct debit instruction with your bank as soon as possible to ensure that no further payments will be taken.

Stanley Badge Awards
As your child progresses through the stages of our swim school they will achieve Stanley Awards. Find out more information on the stages and awards in our swim school
- lessons are available 7 days a week, 50 weeks of the year
- held during late afternoons and evenings every week day
- Saturday and Sunday mornings during term time
Lessons cost £21 per month for one lesson per week on your preferred day or for £24 per month for swim school extra, meaning children can also swim for free during all 'Swim for All' sessions.
To spread the cost, payment is made monthly by direct debit.

Parent and baby swimming lessons
Suitable from 0 to 36 months, these sessions will take your baby through their very first swimming experience in a calm and safe environment. Parent and baby swimming lessons also offer a unique bonding opportunity for parents with their little ones.
Lessons cost £38 for an 8 week course.

Junior Lifeguard Academy
Fun packed sessions will teach children skills for personal survival in the water, first aid and lifesaving skills as well as lots of fun extras including:
- inspiring courses, teaching invaluable lifelong skills
- encourages young people to be active and make new friends
- teaches your child how to respond well and know what to do in case of emergency
Junior Lifeguard Academy is open to very competent swimmers able to swim at least 50 metres unaided. Perfect for those in Angelfish, Shark or more advanced Swim School classes.
Sessions cost £21 a month.

Adult swimming lessons
These courses will take you through the basics of swimming. Join the beginners class if you are a non swimmer or a nervous swimmer to build confidence. Come along to improvers sessions if you are a leisure swimmer looking to improve your technique, stamina and efficiency using front crawl, back stroke and breaststroke.
We do not currently have any adult swimming lessons available to book. Please check back for further updates.
Lessons cost £36 for 4 weeks.

Private swimming lessons
Private swimming lessons are suitable for those wanting to improve on their swimming strokes or to gain confidence in the water. Lessons are 30 minutes long and are taught by a team of fully qualified swimming teachers, qualified under the Swimming Teachers Association or the National Swimming Association. Now available to block book in sessions of up to 3 months.
They are available for both children and adults individually.
Private swimming lessons are available in the evenings, at weekends and during the school holidays. Take a look at our swimming timetable to find out more.
We are currently only able to run out private swimming lessons on a one to one basis. This is to ensure safe social distancing. The cost for one person is £18.
