Led by trained volunteer health walk leaders, these walks are ideal for beginners and offer a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and meet new people. The walks are free of charge, please just turn up there is no need to book.

Before you take part in Activate health walks

Make sure you complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) beforehand and arrive 10 minutes before the start time of the walk:

Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ)

All new and returning participants are required to complete an annual Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) before attending a health walk or health cycle ride.

Health walk levels

Level 1

Suitable for people who are looking to be more active or are returning from injury or illness. Sessions run for up 30 minutes and take place on flat ground or gentle slopes with mainly firm surfaces and no steps or stiles.

Level 2

Suitable for people who are looking to increase their activity levels. Sessions run from between 30-60 minutes and may include some moderate slopes, steps and uneven surfaces.
