Are you inspired to get out on the water and learn to sail? These are some of the best sailing waters in the the world, so why not join us?

WOEC is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training centre. We use a small team of highly experienced staff and a fleet of boats suitable for all to ensure that everyone progresses at the speed that's right for them. All our sailing takes place out of Weymouth Harbour with excellent staff to participant ratios.

Sailing options

  • bespoke sessions for individuals/groups
  • taster and multi-activity sessions for children from 8 to 16 years
  • Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Young Sailors courses (stages 1 to 4)
  • dinghy sailing - single handers and 2 handers
  • keel boat sailing - hawk 20 keel boat to take the group


These costs are for a 3 hour bespoke session for a group of up to 8 people:

  • Dorset LA schools: from £175
  • Groups of children or young people: from £182
  • Adults groups: from £206

What to bring

  • swimming costume or shorts
  • pair of soft soled shoes that can get wet
  • towel
  • water
  • packed lunch if you are here all day

(wet suits are provided)


2 day and 4 day sailing courses

(for ages 8 to 16)


These courses are for children at any level.

We will help you progress at the speed that's right for you and can help you work towards achieving stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Seamanship level.

4 day course - £250 per person

Achieve a RYA stage

All courses progress you towards a RYA stage. Your progress will be recorded in your log book. We'll issue you with your certificate if you reach the required standard.

Courses for children and young people

Multi-activity courses

Children and young people from 8 to 16 years can try climbing, tunnelling, coasteering and abseiling as part of one of our multi-activity courses. These are 2, 4 or 5 day courses where you get to try a range of wet and dry activities, such as sailing, stand up paddle boarding and climbing.

Taster sessions

Our taster sessions are for children and young people from 8 to 16 years that want to give an activity a try as a one off or before joining a course. You can do a half day taster session or full day where you choose from 2 activities.
