Rock climbing, scrambling, abseiling and rock hopping

Test your skills climbing skills!

Rock climbers have a range of venues to choose from and a choice of activities including scrambling, low level un-roped climbing, roped climbing and abseiling on WOEC's seven meter tower and crags around Portland.

Session options

  • crag climbing
  • rock hop at Tout Quarry, Chesil Cove and Portland Bill
  • abseiling at North Cliff
  • rock and indoor climbing


These costs are for a 3 hour session for a group of up to 8 or 9 people:

Dorset LA schools up from £167
Groups of children/young people from £173
Adults groups from £196

What to bring

  • comfortable clothing
  • soft comfortable shoes, preferably something with a lace so they don't fall off!
  • water
  • packed lunch if you are here all day

2 day rock climbing course

For 12 to 16 year olds.
All the basic skills and plenty of quality climbing. Start onsite then onto the amazing Portland cliffs.
From 9.30am to 4.30pm.

  • 23 and 24 July 2020
  • 10 and 11 August 2020

Cost is £99.

Multi-activity courses

Children and young people from 8 to 16 years can try climbing, tunnelling and abseiling as part of one of our multi-activity courses. These are 2, 4 or 5 day courses where you get to try a range of wet and dry activities, such as sailing, stand up paddle boarding and climbing.

Taster sessions

Our taster sessions are for children and young people from 8 to 16 years that want to give an activity a try as a one off or before joining a course. You can do a half day taster session or full day where you choose from 2 activities.
