Swanage - town centre enhancements

Highway engineers are working with Swanage Town Council to look at ways to improve the pedestrian experience on Institute Road.

The scheme aims to improve the street scene, which has a heavy concentration of both pedestrians and vehicles in the same narrow street.

Safety and environmental enhancement proposals for the busy Swanage town centre road include:

  • widening some footways
  • providing new loading bay on Station Road
  • removing some, or all, loading/unloading on Institute Road
  • changing parking bays
