Bournemouth Airport Economic Study of Development Land (March 2008)

An economic study has been prepared to assess the economic potential of employment land located within the Northern Development Zone or 'Aviation Park' at Bournemouth Airport.

The study was commissioned by Christchurch Borough Council to advise on the economic potential of an 80 ha employment site adjoining Bournemouth International Airport, known as the Northern Development Zone (NDZ) or Aviation Park. Specific aims of the study were to identify an overall vision for development of the site, the types of economic sectors that the site could attract and be promoted for, and provide guidance on how the site could best be promoted and brought forward to achieve its potential.

The study involved extensive consultation with economic development departments of local authorities in the sub-region, business organisations, the regional development agency, commercial property agents active in the area and a range of local firms.

This study has been prepared as part of the evidence base to inform the Christchurch and East Dorset Core Strategy and Airport Area Action Plan. If you require any further information concerning this study and how it informs the Local Development Framework process please contact us.
