Dorset Council Local Plan consultation

We are asking for views on the Dorset Council Local Plan consultation between 18 January and 15 March 2021. 

Supporting the consultation are a series of related webinars and podcasts. Once they have taken place, links to the recordings will be found below. You can also find below consultation information posters to view and download.

Talk Dorset Podcasts

What is the local plan and how you can have your say - Listen to Cllr David Walsh explain the Dorset Council Local Plan consultation and how you can get involved.

Affordable housing - listen to Senior Planning Policy Officer Frances Summers and Housing Enablers Chris McDermott and Paul Derrien discuss affordable housing answering questions such as What is affordable housing? How can the Dorset Council Local Plan help provide affordable housing? and What are exception sites?

Housing need - Listen to Hilary Jordan and Nick Cardnell explain how housing need is calculated and the impact of Government's changes to the way it is worked out.

Webinars

We are holding webinars throughout the consultation period on key themes within the plan. Each webinar will consist of a short presentation followed by a question and answer session. Watch them on the council's YouTube channel

Consultation Information Posters

We have produced consultation information posters that are being displayed in some shop and library spaces across the Dorset Council area. These give some broad information regarding the Dorset Council Local Plan Consultation, including how to view the consultation, how to get in touch with the Planning Policy team, and information about proposed development within the spatial areas. Town and Parish Council Engagement Events

In February and March 2020 the Planning Policy team undertook engagement events with Town and Parish Councils to explain the proposed settlement hierarchy for inclusion in the Dorset Council Local Plan.
