Coronavirus (COVID-19): updates and advice.

Educational visits to the Roman Town House

The Roman Town House is an ideal site for an educational visit.

Booking a tour

You can book a guided tour and associated activities through the Dorset County Museum.

Risk assessments

Teachers will need to make their own visit to the Roman Town House to devise a risk assessment for their students.

  • slipping/tripping hazards: the site includes steep grass banks and low stone walls. Care should be taken when moving around the site, and running should not be permitted. Students should not climb on low walls

  • vehicles: the road alongside the site provides access to the council's staff car park. It is a one-way system and is also used by buses. Students should be advised to take care when entering and leaving the site

  • please remember that the Roman Town House is a Scheduled Ancient Monument

  • please email the Historic Environment Manager if you wish to mark or peg out anything during activities
