Children's social work
All our social workers are locality based, working alongside education and early help colleagues and professionals. This approach helps to build our relationships within the community and with all of our partner agencies to improve outcomes for children.
Our primary way of working is through supporting relationship based, strengths based and restorative social work practice with children and their families. This approach reduces caseloads and ensures that our interventions are timely, focussed and appropriate.
We are committed to promoting evidence based practice through access to Research in Practice (RiP) and Community Care Inform. Additionally, our new social work academy helps to support career pathways and professional development and will promote your personal growth and development in the role.
As a social worker with Dorset Council, you will have access to a wide range of training including weekly workshops on specific themes relating to learning from the audit programme, reflective practice sessions and peer support groups.
Newly qualified starters can benefit from our Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
