Personal assistants (PA) in Dorset can now request free personal protective equipment (PPE). A standard package of PPE includes visors, aprons, face masks, hand sanitiser and gloves. You can use PPE while doing personal care such as washing, dressing, feeding or when helping with laundry, cooking, cleaning and shopping.
Personal assistants are funded by:
- people paying for their own support
- Dorset Council, CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group), or funded through personal health budgets or direct payments
Personal assistants who will be able to request free PPE
You can request PPE if you are:
- you’re directly employed by an individual (or self-employed) to provide care and support to enable them to live as independently as possible
- you provide care that requires you to come within 2 metres of an adult over the age of 18 who you support - this care could include support in the home, or to go out into the community
