Temporary arrangements for free DBS and Barred List checks in response to COVID-19

(Added 3 April 2020) In response to COVID-19, as of Monday 30 March 2020, the Home Office and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be putting temporary arrangements in place, to provide DBS checks and fast-track emergency checks of the Adults’ and Children’s Barred Lists free-of-charge

The Care Quality Commission have also published interim guidance on DBS and other recruitment checks, for providers recruiting staff and volunteers to health and social care services in response to Covid-19 which will be in operation for the period the Coronavirus Act 2020 remains in force.

Safeguarding adults during the coronavirus pandemic

(Added 25.03.2020)  It is important for you to continue raising Safeguarding Concerns through the normal routes. The focus of the Safeguarding Teams is on critical interventions, so you may not get a response to your concern as quickly as normal as we have to prioritise resources. It is very important that you let us know if circumstances change, as this will help us re-prioritise if needed.

Domestic abuse campaign amid concern over increase in cases

(Added 31.03.2020)  Police and other organisations across Dorset are raising awareness around domestic abuse amid concerns it may increase over the coming weeks due to the impact of Coronavirus. More information can be found on the Pan Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership website should you be aware of service users who are at risk of domestic violence

As indicated on previous pages, we are keen to support providers and encourage an early discussion if you are concerned that your service may become unsafe, particularly due to staffing shortages, those early discussions should take place with the relevant Commissioning Team.
