Coronavirus (COVID-19): updates and advice.

Talking to children about coronavirus

Be open and honest, stick to the facts and don’t over complicate.

Listen to what children have to say and reassure them that they themselves are safe.

These are difficult times for all of us and the coronavirus pandemic presents additional challenges for children and young people as they adapt to new social distancing measures.

To help parents, carers and professionals explain coronavirus to children INEQE Safeguarding Group, an independent safeguarding organisation, is sharing age appropriate resources to help reduce anxieties for young people.

Read their resources to support you to tackle misinformation and help children understand coronavirus:

Axel Scheffler (illustrator for The Gruffalo) has made a free coronavirus information book to download for for 5 to 9 year olds.

BBC Newsround is also doing a great job with excellent films which help answer many of the questions children have about coronavirus.
