This one day course provides an introduction to moving and handling for assessment and support co-ordinators.

About the course

It is essential training for those with no previous occupational therapy (OT) experience but is not suitable for staff who previously worked for Dorset Council (DC) as OT assistants.

Before the course individuals must complete 'Manual handling', an online Learning Portal module. A certificate of successful completion which can be downloaded from the Learning Portal should be brought to the training day.

To access the module

Log in to DC Learning Online, on Home Page select Health, Safety & Wellbeing, then select online courses and scroll down to Manual handling.

  • provide a basic awareness of knowledge and skills relating moving and handling
  • outline range of basic equipment to support daily living
