Standards Committee - Purbeck

Information about Purbeck District Council's Standards Committee, including its responsibilities, the membership of the Committee, meeting dates, and agenda, reports and minutes of its meetings.

The role of the Standards Committee

Purbeck District Council's Standards Committee has responsibility for enforcing the Codes of Conduct of the council and the town and parish councils within Purbeck.

The Committee provides training for members on expected standards of behaviour.  It has delegated its functions in connection with the assessment of complaints and hearings into reports that Councillors have breached the Code of Conduct or an adopted protocol to the following sub-committees:

The Committee has also revised the Protocol on Member/Officer Relations and the Code of Practice for Members and Officers on Planning Procedures.  These are incorporated into the council's Constitution.  The Committee is advised by the council's Monitoring Officer, David Fairbairn.
