The Summer Reading Challenge is back from 1 July to 23 September 2023 in Dorset libraries and community managed libraries. Get ready to join the team!

This year’s challenge 'Ready, Set, Read!' is all about games and sports. Join our superstar team and their animal mascots as they use their skills to weave their way through a summer obstacle course.

Developed in collaboration with Youth Sport Trust, the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge celebrates play and participation with games and sports by keeping imaginations moving over the school holiday.

Look out for events and activities online and in your library this summer.

Join the Summer Reading Challenge

Join the Challenge online or at your local library or community managed library by signing up and collecting a card collector folder

You need to read 6 books and collect stickers along the way to add to your folder. Reading e-books or listening to e-audiobooks on the Borrow Box app also counts towards the challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge website offers a great range of information, useful links, activities and games to compliment the challenge.

Once you complete the challenge

When you complete the challenge, you will get a medal from the library and a personalised certificate sent to your school for presentation. If you do not wish your certificate to be sent to your school you can collect it from your local library instead.
