A selection of round walks to help you enjoy and celebrate your local Rights of Way network.

The 'Walkabout' project is a combined effort between local volunteer enthusiasts and Dorset Council.

Sturminster Newton was the first town in Dorset to create its own set of 'Walkabout' leaflets. The walking routes are mainly on Public Rights of Way, with some on paths with access permitted by the landowners. Each leaflet includes a clear OS map to follow as well as some points of interest to look out for along the way.

The layout of the leaflet has been purposefully designed to be simple to replicate for any community who would like their own 'Walkabout' leaflet. Hopefully other towns and villages across Dorset will see how successful these leaflets are and want some for their own town or village. The idea is that there will be a whole series of round walks across Dorset available in hard copy or online so every community can celebrate and promote its local Rights of Way network.
